An Audio Speed Changer allows musicians, producers, DJs, singers, and music students to speed up or slow down an audio recording directly in the browser. It can be useful for practicing music, creating samples, experimenting with production ideas, or changing the feel of a recording.

Changing the playback speed can also change the pitch of the recording. This is similar to speeding up or slowing down a tape or turntable. For example, slowing a recording to 0.75× makes it longer and lowers its pitch, while increasing it to 1.25× makes it shorter and raises its pitch.

This can be particularly useful for instrument practice and transcription. Guitarists, pianists, singers, and other musicians can slow down difficult passages to hear individual notes more clearly before gradually increasing the speed.

The tool also shows the expected new duration based on the selected speed. A recording played at 0.5× will take approximately twice as long, while a recording played at 2× will take approximately half as long.

Tip: Try slowing a difficult musical passage to 0.5×–0.75× when learning it by ear, then gradually increase the speed as you become comfortable. For creative production, experiment with extreme speed changes to create pitched-down vocals, sped-up samples, transitions, and unusual textures.
