    How the Pronunciation Checker works:

Enter the word, phrase, sentence, or lyric you want to practice and select the appropriate recognition language. When you press the microphone button, the browser listens to your speech and converts what it hears into text.

The tool then compares the recognized speech with your target. The match percentage considers both the overall text similarity and how closely the individual words line up.

A high score means the speech-recognition system heard something very similar to the text you entered. A lower score identifies words that may be worth trying again.
Important: This is a speech-recognition-based pronunciation practice tool, not a phonetic or accent-grading system. A mismatch does not necessarily mean your pronunciation is incorrect. Microphone quality, background noise, accent, dialect, speaking speed, names, uncommon words, and the browser's speech-recognition model can all affect the transcription.
  • A Pronunciation Checker helps you practice words, phrases, lyrics, and sentences by comparing what you say with the text you intended to say. Enter your target text, choose the appropriate language, press Check My Pronunciation, and speak clearly into your microphone.

The tool uses browser speech recognition to determine what it heard. It then compares that transcription with your original text and provides a pronunciation match score, recognized text, and word-by-word comparison. Words that were not recognized as expected are highlighted so you know which parts may be worth practicing again.

A Pronunciation Checker can be helpful for singers practicing unfamiliar lyrics, speakers preparing presentations, actors working through scripts, voiceover artists, and people practicing another language.

The match percentage should not be interpreted as an objective grade of your accent or speaking ability. Speech recognition can be affected by dialect, accent, microphone quality, background noise, speaking speed, uncommon names, and limitations in the browser's recognition system. Two perfectly understandable pronunciations may sometimes produce different transcriptions.

For the best results, use a quiet room and test shorter phrases before attempting long passages.

Tip: If one word repeatedly produces a mismatch, practice it by itself first. Once the browser consistently recognizes the word you intended, place it back into the full lyric, sentence, or phrase and check it again at your normal speaking or singing pace.
