    Song Analysis Summary

What does the Song Analyzer measure?

The Song Analyzer examines several measurable properties of an uploaded audio file. It estimates tempo and musical key, measures sample peak and RMS levels, examines stereo differences, looks at frequency energy, and reports technical information such as sample rate, channel count, and duration.

Analysis happens locally in your browser. The song does not need to be uploaded to a remote server by this tool.
Important: BPM and musical-key detection are estimates. Songs with tempo changes, syncopation, weak percussion, unusual tuning, key changes, ambiguous harmony, spoken audio, or complex arrangements may produce inaccurate results. RMS is not the same measurement as LUFS, and the peak reading is a sample-peak measurement rather than a true-peak measurement.
  • A Song Analyzer gives you a quick overview of the musical, technical, and audio characteristics of a song. Upload an audio file to examine measurements including estimated BPM, estimated musical key, duration, sample peak level, RMS level, peak-to-RMS difference, stereo width, dominant frequency, frequency balance, sample rate, and channel count.

The estimated BPM can help identify the approximate tempo of a track, while the key analysis examines frequency information throughout the recording to estimate a likely major or minor key. Because complete songs contain drums, vocals, harmonies, effects, and multiple instruments, automatic BPM and key detection should always be treated as an estimate.

The analyzer also examines audio levels. Peak level shows the highest digital sample detected, while RMS represents a form of average signal level. The difference between the peak and RMS readings can provide a basic look at how strongly peaks stand above the average level.

Frequency analysis divides the song into broad low, mid, and high-frequency regions, while the stereo measurement examines differences between the left and right channels.

Analysis is performed locally in your browser, so the tool does not need to send your song to a remote server.

Tip: Use the Song Analyzer as a starting point rather than relying on one measurement alone. If a BPM, key, dynamics, or frequency result seems unusual, confirm it with your ears and a more specialized tool before making important mixing, mastering, arrangement, or performance decisions.
