    The analyzer tracks changes in the fundamental frequency of your voice. When you sustain a note with vibrato, your pitch repeatedly moves above and below a central pitch.

    The estimated vibrato rate tells you how many of those oscillations occur each second. For example, 6 Hz means approximately six complete pitch oscillations per second.

    Vibrato width estimates how far your pitch moves from the center pitch and is displayed in cents.

    For the best result, sustain one comfortable vowel for at least 3โ€“5 seconds. Avoid intentionally speeding up or slowing down your vibrato.

    This is an educational microphone-based estimator, not a professional pitch-analysis system. Background noise, room acoustics, microphone quality, breath noise, harmonics, vocal onset, and changes in pitch can affect the result.

    A singer may also have natural changes in vibrato rate throughout a note. Don't treat one measurement as a "correct" or "incorrect" vibrato rate.

    One lesser-known detail is that vibrato rate and vibrato width are two different things. Rate refers to how quickly the pitch cycles, while width describes how far the pitch moves above and below the center note. A singer could therefore have a relatively fast vibrato with a narrow pitch variation, or a slower vibrato with a wider variation.

    Your vibrato rate may also change depending on the vowel, pitch, volume, vocal style, fatigue, and how you're approaching the note. It isn't necessarily supposed to remain exactly the same throughout your entire range.

    Use the calculator as a practice and observation tool rather than a scorecard. There isn't one vibrato rate that every singer needs to achieve.

    Tip: Record yourself sustaining the same note at different volumes and compare the measurements. You may discover that your vibrato changes noticeably when you sing softly versus loudly.
