Important: A revenue split is not necessarily the same thing as a songwriting split, publishing split, master ownership split, or royalty split.

For example, a producer might receive a percentage of master recording royalties while the songwriters have a separate composition split. Make sure your written agreement clearly identifies what revenue the percentage applies to.

Tip: Always clarify whether your percentage is calculated from gross revenue or net revenue after expenses, distributor fees, label recoupment, taxes, or other deductions.
