What To Bring To A Concert

A bit of prep can go a long way when it comes to the concert experience, even if you're not one of the performers. There are a few things you want to make sure you have with you, and even more things you want to make sure you avoid binging.

I've been to a few concerts myself and either had the wrong thing with me (like an overly large purse) or forgot some things that would have really come in handy.

Don't be like me; get your list of items ready way before you go! Here are a few things to keep in mind that I want to share with you.

Things You Should Bring

Ticket: Well, this one goes without saying! Make sure you have your concert ticket handy, or else you'll be left singing in the parking lot.

Comfortable Shoes: Prepare for a lot of standing and dancing, so wear shoes that won't leave your feet begging for mercy halfway through the night.

Camera or Phone: Capture those magical concert moments by having a camera or your phone ready. Snap a few shots, but don't forget to live in the moment too!

Portable Phone Charger: You don't want your phone to die just when your favorite artist takes the stage. Keep a portable charger with you, and you'll be snapping and sharing all night long.

Cash: Although we live in a digital age, it's always handy to have some cash on you. Some vendors might not accept cards, and you don't want to miss out on that delicious concert snack.

Light Jacket or Sweater: Concert venues can get pretty chilly, even if it's sweltering outside. Carry a light jacket or sweater to keep cozy during the less-warn seasons and cool summer nights.

Water Bottle: Stay hydrated, my friend! Bringing a reusable water bottle will save you from overpriced beverages and keep you refreshed throughout the night.

Snacks: Concerts can be energy-draining, and hunger strikes at the worst times. Pack some snacks like granola bars or trail mix to keep your stomach from grumbling during the show.

Band Merchandise: Show some love for your favorite artists by wearing their merch. Not only will you look cool, but it's also a great conversation starter with fellow fans.

Tissues or Wet Wipes: Concerts can get messy, from spilled drinks to sweaty palms. Keep some tissues or wet wipes handy to clean up any accidental spills or refresh yourself.

Small Backpack or Crossbody Bag: Don't burden yourself with a huge tote. Opt for a small backpack or a crossbody bag to carry your essentials while keeping your hands free for dancing. Some venues only allow small and transparent bags.

ID or Driver's License: If you plan to indulge in some adult beverages, make sure you have your ID or driver's license with you. No ID, no fun!

Earplugs: Yes, concerts are loud, and protecting your hearing is important. Grab a pair of earplugs to enjoy the music without any ringing in your ears later, especially if you're right by a speaker.

Setlist: If you're a superfan, try to find the setlist online before the concert and print it out. It's exciting to follow along with the songs and anticipate what's coming next.

Positive Attitude: Last but not least, bring your enthusiastic, positive energy to the concert. The atmosphere will be electric, and your vibe can help create an unforgettable experience for everyone.

Things You Should Avoid Bringing

Illegal Substances: Avoid bringing any illegal substances to the concert. Not only is it against the law, but it can also spoil the atmosphere for others. In rare cases, the whole crowd and even security will be cool with it.

Weapons: Concert venues have strict security measures, so leave any weapons at home. Bringing them is not only dangerous but also against the rules and could result in serious consequences.

Large Bags or Backpacks: Avoid bringing oversized bags or backpacks that could obstruct others or cause inconvenience in crowded areas. Opt for a smaller bag or a crossbody purse instead.

Professional Cameras or Recording Equipment: While capturing memories is great, most concerts prohibit professional cameras or recording equipment. Stick to using your phone or a compact camera to avoid any issues.

Selfie Sticks: These might seem like a fun accessory, but selfie sticks can be a nuisance in crowded spaces, blocking the view of others. Leave them at home and enjoy the concert without obstructing anyone's view.

Glass Bottles or Containers: For safety reasons, many venues restrict glass bottles or containers. Opt for plastic or aluminum alternatives, which are usually permitted.

Outside Food and Drinks: Concert venues typically have their own food and beverage options, so avoid bringing outside food and drinks. It's best to support the vendors and enjoy the offerings available at the venue.

Valuable or Irreplaceable Items: Leave your valuable or irreplaceable items, such as expensive jewelry or sentimental objects, at home. It's better to be safe than sorry and risk losing or damaging them in the crowd.

Pets: While you may love your furry friends, concerts are not the ideal environment for them. Leave your pets at home, where they'll be safe and comfortable. The environment may still work for them in rare cases, but be careful.

Bad Attitude: This might not be a physical item, but it's essential nonetheless. Avoid bringing a negative or disrespectful attitude to the concert. Remember, everyone is there to have a good time, so let's keep the positive vibes flowing!

By avoiding these items, you'll help create a safe, enjoyable, and respectful environment for yourself and fellow concert attendees. Have a blast, and enjoy the music!
